Projects and grants
Driving change across specialist medicine
CPMC leads initiatives that address specialist training and practice challenges.
The projects we deliver, and grants we support, address real challenges in the healthcare system, creating solutions that benefit both the sector and the patient it serves.
This includes our work leading national Commonwealth-funded programs that strengthen specialist training pathways, accreditation, professionalism and access to high-quality specialist care.
SRSA
Retaining the specialists rural communities rely on
The Support for Rural Specialists Australia (SRSA) program supports local specialists to remain skilled, connected, and professionally supported.
Managed and delivered by CPMC, and funded by the Australian Government Department of Health, Disability and Ageing, SRSA supports the retention of rural specialists to continue to deliver sustainable, high-quality healthcare in rural and remote communities.
Through a competitive annual grants program, eligible rural and remote non-GP specialists can apply for up to $12,000. The program provides funding to subsidise travel and training costs so that rural specialists can access context-specific training that is often unavailable locally, gaining advanced skills that are immediately applicable within their regional health services, as well as remain connected to professional networks.
A CPMC subcommittee oversees the program’s operations, including assessing applications for each funding round, and evaluating outcomes.
By investing directly in specialist capability, SRSA contributes to better health outcomes for regional Australia.
